Our Room
Relaxing story area
This is where our children enjoy early reading. With access to books throughout the day the children can enjoy stories with and without the support of a practitioner. This area is also where our children can have some quiet time if they feel tired.
Maths area
This area is set out so that children are able to problem solve, measure, compare, count and develop other mathematical skills such as understand patterns, shapes and space. This area is used throughout the day as part of our continuous provision as well as times where we set up specific activities supported by an adult.
Role Play Area
This is where many of our children love to play out their own experiences. This is where they learn empathy and other social skills in a safe space. They learn to think creatively as they pretend to be doctors, hair dressers and vets. Many children use this area to play out their worries such as preparing to become a big sister/brother, starting a new school or going to the doctors for an injection.
Entrance
Our children enter the building from our enclosed play ground which is accessed from Harrowby Road. We have blackboards and mirrors, water play and construction materials to explore along with space to let off some energy or learn a new skill such as riding a trike or kicking a ball.
We also use the school forest school area at the back of our building where children can explore the woods, dig holes in the dirt or make dens.
